Our Story

On July 5, 2006 I had my first "date" with my amazing husband Daniel. It wasn't any ordinary date, we had spent the previous three or four weeks talking on the phone nightly for anywhere between two and four hours. On this day we decided that upon his return from a trip "up North" with this daughters that we, meaning Maryah, Morgan and I would come over to his house for a bar-b-que with his kids and few of his friends. Talk about throwing us all together in a hurry.

I don't think it took more than an hour to realize that we all just "fit" together nicely. Between our four girls they were 12, 9, 5 and 3 so they got along beautifully. We spent an afternoon sitting by the pool, cooking out laughing together. Before the night was over I think both Dan and I realized that this was no "date" it was the beginning of the rest of our lives. It was really that easy. It was that day that I look back on and realize that fairy tales aren't just for other folks...I live one!

Since that very first family date Dan and I managed to have some "dates" that didn't include the whole family and we fell madly and deeply in love. There was no doubt that we would get married but it was just a matter of timing.

We have now added to our family two gorgeous, heart-breaking boys and a dumb dog! We live in the very house where we had our first date. We spend every waking moment with our family and there is nothing, absolutely nothing that makes us more happy and fulfilled than doing things with and for the kids.

We do long to move to a farm, with a lot of land for the kids to play on and a barn, maybe a tractor or two. I never would have thought in a million years that I would say that in print, out loud or otherwise since I was born and raised in the city and didn't move out to the "burbs" until I was thirty. Until that dream becomes our reality we live in our quaint 1950s split level home with a TON of TLC that my husband puts into it regularly. He is a talented craftsman and he has made our home a beautiful, cozy and comfortable place that we all love.

We enjoy our time in the pool, playing games on family game night, sitting by the fire, watching movies together, going to the local fairs and vintage car shows and watching our kids dance every year.

Together with this crazy family of eight is where you will find me and exactly where I want to be for the rest of my days.

I hope you will enjoy this story as it unfolds as much as I will enjoy writing about it. My daily ramblings may be funny, may be sad, may be real or completely unbelievable but I hope to keep it interesting.
